  Preserve our Privilege

Full House?

I am not talking about the evening TV show!!  I have a better show to share.  The evening with local talents was spectacular.  I could not believe that our community could put up such a wonderful program.

Hey, stop it.  That was enough bragging!!  Instead, you should thank all the sponsors, participants, parents and especially those 450 people in the audience who cheered the participants all along.  Don’t forget to thank those “ABCD” emcees.  If you do, you will be “ a kela” during the next program or they may tell you to “hut” and take over.

All right, all right.  I did not do that because I thought the “show” spoke for itself.  And also, the show was a success due to the efforts of the entire community.

There you go again!! But, don’t forget to mention that ICS has over 160 members currently and it is never too late to be one.

Would you please stop telling me what to say?  I think I talked enough of the show and I am moving on to other things………..

"Charity brings cheers”

ICS was pleased to serve a luncheon to the needy at Cristo Rey Community Center in Lansing on Wednesday, December 10, 2003.  On behalf of our Indian community, ICS Board members, community members and friends were present to help & serve the food.  The food for this luncheon was provided by the families of Ramesh Dedhia & Narendra Patel .  ICS wants to thank them for supporting this good cause.

Also, during this luncheon donations collected by ICS from its members, Indian community and friends were presented to the Executive Director of Greater Lansing Food Bank.  We have collected $9,500.00 for this good cause.  The ICS board and the Greater Lansing Food Bank are grateful to all the donors for their generosity.

With your support, ICS would like to continue these types of fund raising and/or food drives for the less fortunate members of our Lansing community.  Please come forward and support to make us successful.  If you have any suggestions or would like to help in coordinating these activities, please contact any of the ICS board members.

“Preserve our Privilege” - a note for your board members

The ICS board was requested to meet the officials of Hannah Community Center after the November 8th Cultural Program.  The Center had some concerns in which the guidelines and procedures of our contractual agreement were not met.  As an Indian community, we would like to sustain the professional relations with the Center Staff so we can preserve our privilege of renting this fine facility for the future events.  Please assist the board by observing the following “Do’s & Don’ts”:

1.     Keep young children with you at all times and make sure that they are not disturbing other patrons, playing and/or talking in the hallways.  We are allowed to use the area that is rented and paid for by the ICS.

  1. There will be one contact from ICS to coordinate our need with the staff of the Center.  If you need something, contact the ICS coordinator instead of contacting the Center staff directly.  We have violated this pretty bad during our last program.
  2. If you are not sure if your action will violate the Center procedure, contact the coordinator and let him/her check with the Center staff or the custodian.  ICS is responsible for your actions.
